A Curse of Gods & Mortals
Part I & II

Availble On:

If you love fantasy romance books filled with dangerous gods, impossible choices, otherworldly realms and romances that really have to fight to survive, you might just love my books!

I’m Lucy Young, a UK fantasy book author and the writer behind the Court Of The Divine series and my upcoming title Crown of Fate.

My stories are built around everything I love about fantasy and escapism: strange new worlds, powerful magic, deadly trials, morally complicated characters, secrets that refuse to stay buried and relationships that develop when they really, really shouldn’t.

At the centre of it all are characters who are forced to decide what they are willing to sacrifice for the people they love.

Court Of The Divine begins with A Curse Of Gods & Mortals, a contemporary portal fantasy that takes an ordinary mortal from Earth and throws her into a realm ruled by gods. What follows is a battle for survival, a dangerous competition, a growing connection between mortal and god, and a much bigger mystery hiding beneath the games.

If your favourite fantasy and romance books come with slow-burn tension, forbidden attraction, deadly challenges, found family and a little chaos, you may have just found your next series. Give it a try.

About
the
Author

Hi, I'm Lucy!

When I'm not busy writing, I'm devouring books from other authors - especially in the fantasy and romantasy genre.

I had always had a passion for writing but was able to develop this during and after my studies at university, where I wrote and produced many award winning and award nominated short films and web series'.

My debut series, 'Court Of The Divine', is a story produced from everything I love about fantasy worlds and escapism. If I'm not lost in a good book or planning out plot lines for my next novel, I'm usually enthralled in otherworldly locations you can find in films/tv shows, or video games.

My Taste in Books...

Fantasy Romance Books With Slow-Burn Tension

I love fantasy. I love romance. Naturally, I wanted to write the sort of fantasy romance books I always find myself reaching for.

That means the romance is allowed to build.

Azena and Cali are not thrown together and instantly given an easy path. Their relationship has to develop through mistrust, reluctant cooperation, sharp exchanges, difficult choices and the growing realisation that their connection may be putting them both at risk.
Around them, the world keeps moving. There are trials to survive, wishes to win, secrets to uncover and gods with very different ideas about what should happen next.

If you enjoy slow-burn fantasy romance where the relationship grows alongside the plot, rather than stopping it, Court Of The Divine is designed to give you both sides of the genre.

Portal Fantasy Tales With Gods, Magic and Otherworldly Realms

Portal fantasy has always appealed to me because there is something exciting about watching a familiar life collide with the impossible.

I love to get lost in a well-sculpted world and finding myself engrossed.

In the Court Of The Divine series, Azena does not begin as someone who understands the magical world waiting for her.

She is pulled out of the mortal realm and forced to adapt quickly to places, creatures and powers she never believed existed.

That gives the reader the chance to discover each new realm alongside her.

But entering another world is only the beginning.

The gods have histories, rivalries and motives of their own. The games have rules, but those rules do not always tell the whole story.

Every new realm can offer wonder one moment and danger the next, and the people Azena meets are rarely as simple as they first appear.
For readers who love portal fantasy because of the sense of discovery, the series combines that otherworldly adventure with a

character-driven romantic fantasy novel at its core.

Romantic Fantasy Books for Adults Who Want More Than a Love Story

For me, the best romantic fantasy books for adults do not make you choose between a compelling fantasy story and a romance you can become completely invested in. I want both!

I want the magic, the danger and the feeling that anything could happen when a character steps into a world they do not understand.

I want gods with their own agendas, creatures that should not exist, hidden histories, strange realms and consequences that actually matter. But I also want those quieter moments where two characters slowly begin to understand each other, even when everything around them says they should be enemies.

That type of balance is at the heart of the Court Of The Divine story.

The series mixes contemporary portal fantasy with forbidden romance, deadly games and trials, and gods who can hold a grudge.

The romance grows alongside the wider story rather than replacing it, while the fantasy world continues to expand as Azena learns that the truth behind the gods, their games and their history is far more complicated than she first imagined.

If you read fantasy romance for the tension, the world-building, the twists and the emotional fallout, these books were written for you.
